Hellllo everyone! I rarely post on this tumblr account anymore, but I am starting to regularly upload youtube videos. If you would like to keep up with me on there just subscribe to me on youtube :)
After countless requests for a post on my skin care routine while on Accutane, here it is. Side note, I’m no longer on Accutane (I will be posting about that story tomorrow) but I still have dry, sensitive skin.. So I am currently using the same products and the same routine.
I use a variety of AMAZING products that all work in perfect harmony with each other, keeping my skin soft and hydrated while fighting acne scars. Plus, none of the products irritate my sensitive skin :)
From left to right: MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator, Origins Make A Difference creme, Trilogy Rosehip oil, Caudalie S.O.S. Thirst Quenching Serum, Caudalie Cleansing Water, Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
I’m sure most of you have heard of Cetaphil’s cleanser and/or moisturizer, as it’s a pretty commonly used brand. If you are on Accutane, or any acne medication for that matter, Cetaphil’s face cleanser is ideal. It’s extremely gentle and leaves your skin with a soft and hydrated texture. Many face washes dry out skin, not this one!
When people hear about MAC cosmetics, the infamous lipsticks and eyeshadows usually come to mind. Little do many people know, MAC has a brilliant skin care line. Before taking Accutane I used the St Ives Apricot Scrub, but I’m finding it a bit too harsh for my skin now that it is much drier. This product exfoliates, but doesn’t over do it. In other words, it’s perfect for those with dry, sensitive skin. Any exfoliator that doesn’t leave my skin bright red and inflamed is a keeper. I used this exfoliator once or twice a week while on Acctuane. I don’t prefer you use it (or any exfoliator) more than twice a week while taking Accutane.. you want to get rid of flaking dry skin not scrub your skin raw!
Mmmmm Caudalie :’) Just the French brand name itself is enticing. I have been so obsessed with Caudalie products lately! The product on the right is the Cleansing Water. This step is definitely not necessary but I find it as a nice luxury for my skin. After washing my face with the Cetaphil cleanser or MAC exfoliator, I apply a bit of the cleansing water on a cotton pad and gently pat/rub it in circular motions on my skin and eye area. It does a nice job of removing any remaining mascara or eyeliner around my eyes as well. I like to think of this product as a less harsh toner for my face. The faint scent is also pleasant which is a plus!
The tube of goodness on the left of the picture is the S.O.S. Thirst Quenching Serum. I don’t think I can stress enough the difference a hydrating serum makes on dry skin! On days that my skin is feeling extra dry and itchy, I apply this serum before applying my Origins moisturizer. The serum works excellent without using a moisturizer over it though. The serum soaks into my dry skin, and magically leaves my face glowing and radiant.
This is my first ever Origins product, and I’m definitely pleased. I tried every heavy facial moisturizer and cream found at the drugstore in an attempt to keep my skin hydrated in the dreadful first months of Accutane. I gave up on those when my skin just kept drier and drier. I decided to take a look at the Origins shop at my mall, the employees were so informed and helpful. They really new what they were talking about and what products were perfect for my skin. Although a bit pricey, I was persuaded into purchasing the Make A Difference Ultra-rich rejuvenating cream. I don’t regret it at all. This product has literally changed my skin, it’s never been so soft and touchable in my life! If you have extremely dry skin, seriously try this moisturizer out. You won’t regret it. I will definitely be repurchasing this product now that I ran out :)
****FOR ACNE SCARRING!
After what seems like hundreds of messages in my inbox asking me what products I use for my acne scars, the secret is finally being revealed! Well it really isn’t a secret, but it is an amazing product. I found out about this through an Australian girl on youtube, can’t remember her youtube name though.. sorry! After being on Acctuane in 2011, I applied this Rosehip oil by Trilogy on my face (concentrated in scarring areas) every night before bed as my moisturizer. I feel like the oil sped up the fading of my red scars and marks remarkably. (Don’t let the word oil scare you though, this oil will not clog your pores or break you out.) Now that I am acne free and full of scars again, I’ve been using this oil religiously on my face every night before bed. If you have acne scars and red marks left behind from pimples, PLEASE try this out. I bought mine online (Amazon I think). I’m not sure if any stores in the U.S. sell it, so buying it online is probably your best bet.
Hey.. I'm on accutane too and i was wondering.. how do you clean your eyebrows? thanks :)
What do you mean by clean my eyebrows? If you mean how I get rid of the hairs, I tweeze them myself.
looove your make up vid! i am just ending my first month on accutane 40mg a day and my skin is sooo bad! when did you see a good improvement? this is driving me insane :( xx
Aw thank you! My skin got horrible during the first month and I didn’t see improvement until the middle or end of the third month. My skin is acne free as of now and I am in the middle of my fourth month! Stay positive, it is difficult the first few months but your skin WILL get better and the wait is completely worth it :)
